ANAMBRA — Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has taken a swipe at former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, declaring that the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have no political relevance in the state.
Speaking on Sunday in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area, during celebrations marking the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s victory in Saturday’s by-elections, Soludo said the poll results confirmed the dominance of APGA and the rejection of opposition parties in Anambra.
“ADC does not exist in Anambra. We showed it yesterday, Saturday. Labour Party is dead,” the governor declared to a cheering crowd.
Soludo, who has been vocal about consolidating APGA’s grip in the state, further mocked Obi — who openly backed ADC candidates in the polls — insisting that Anambra voters had given a clear verdict.
According to him, the ADC-led opposition coalition had hoped to use the by-election as a test of strength ahead of the 2027 elections, but “the people spoke overwhelmingly with over 75%” in favor of APGA.
“APGA is our movement,” Soludo added, emphasizing that the party remains the people’s choice in Anambra.
NELSDAILY recalls that Obi, now a Labour Party stalwart, recently aligned with the ADC coalition seeking to form a strong opposition against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
