“Show the Proof!” — Peter Obi Dares Critics to Link Him to Thuggery or Election Violence

ABUJA — Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has thrown down the gauntlet to his critics, daring anyone with evidence linking him to electoral violence or thuggery to come forward and make it public.

Obi, a prominent figure in the emerging opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, made the bold statement in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he reaffirmed his commitment to clean and issue-based politics.

“Throughout my political journey, I have never been involved in thuggery, the snatching of ballot boxes, or any form of electoral malpractice,” the former Anambra State governor declared.

“I challenge anyone: conduct your investigations. You will find no stains of rigging or violence associated with my name.”

Distancing himself from the political culture of intimidation and manipulation, Obi insisted he has always played fair, even in highly competitive contests.

“Ask those who have contested against me — none were ever denied their rights, framed, or falsely accused,” he added.

The statement comes amid ongoing conversations about political accountability and leadership ethics as Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 general elections.

Known for his reformist stance and calls for transparency, Obi continues to position himself as a clean alternative in a political landscape often marred by controversy and allegations of electoral misconduct.
