Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has disclosed that over ₦180 million was stolen from the account of his NGO following a sophisticated hacking attack. The social media commentator made the revelation in an Instagram video on Friday, expressing distress over the incident.
According to Otse, the funds were illegally diverted to an unknown account, leaving only ₦20 million intact. The NGO’s account has since been placed on Post No Debit (PND) to prevent further unauthorized transactions.
“I’ve not been myself these past few days,” Otse said. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested. We’re heading to Jos to recover the money.”
He further explained that the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance and security upgrades to avoid future breaches. Otse assured his followers that updates on the recovery process would be shared as developments unfold.
The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, launched in October, garnered significant public support, raising over ₦35 million in donations within hours of its debut. Shortly afterward, renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, contributed an additional ₦100 million to the cause.
Efforts to recover the stolen funds are ongoing, with investigations already leading to the arrest of a suspect.
