The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, has strongly refuted claims of misappropriation of funds totaling N1.1 billion and N850 million by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Senator Musa described the media reports as a misrepresentation of the facts discussed during the 2025 budget defense hearing.

Senator Musa clarified that the line items in JAMB’s report were thoroughly scrutinized and found to be fully compliant with parliamentary standards. He emphasized that it is a requirement for heads of government agencies to justify their budget performance before requesting further appropriations, ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.

“The report presented by JAMB clearly shows that the figures cited in the media concerning revenue do not indicate any mismanagement or misuse of the Board’s funds,” Senator Musa stated. He commended the Registrar, Professor Oloyede, for his exemplary financial discipline and effective management of JAMB’s resources, calling it a model for other public institutions in Nigeria.

In contrast to the accusations, the Senate Committee chairman highlighted the responsible and prudent allocation of resources under Oloyede’s leadership, reinforcing that no evidence of financial misconduct was found.
