Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Accuses Yahaya Bello of Orchestrating Fake Recall Process

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has accused former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Senate President Godswill Akpabio of masterminding a recall process against her using fabricated constituents.

The embattled lawmaker made this claim on Wednesday while addressing the controversy surrounding the recall effort, which she described as a political vendetta orchestrated by Bello. Akpoti-Uduaghan asserted that all available evidence points to Bello as the initiator of the move, alleging that he manufactured the names of supposed constituents calling for her recall.

This development comes just a day after supporters from Kogi Central’s five local government areas gathered in Ihima, Okehi LGA, to give the senator a rousing welcome, despite a government-imposed ban on rallies and processions.

The senator did not mince words as she challenged Bello to publicly disclose the origins of the purported constituents behind the recall petition. She also accused the former governor of targeting her in a sustained campaign of political intimidation and violence, dating back to the 2023 general election.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further lambasted Bello over allegations of corrupt practices, advising him to focus on clearing his name concerning the alleged diversion of ₦89.2 billion rather than attempting to destabilize her mandate.

She stated, “His actions before and during the last general elections, where he sponsored numerous attacks against me, are well documented. This recall attempt is nothing but another ploy to undermine the people’s will.”

The senator expressed gratitude to her constituents for standing by her, emphasizing that their massive turnout in her support has solidified her popularity and exposed the alleged political maneuvering of her opponents.

“I will continue to serve my people with dedication and will not be deterred by the antics of those seeking to undermine the collective will of Kogi Central. The love and support from my constituents have only strengthened my resolve to do more for them,” Akpoti-Uduaghan affirmed.
