The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing irreconcilable internal crises and prolonged legal battles plaguing the party since the 2023 general elections.

Fadahunsi’s resignation was conveyed in a letter personally signed and dated June 12, 2025, and submitted to the Ward Chairman of Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State.

In the letter, the lawmaker attributed his decision to the deepening crisis at the national level of the party, which he described as “irreparable and irreconcilable.”

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections,” the letter read in part.

He further noted that the decision was reached after wide consultations with his political associates, family, and close allies.

Meanwhile, a PDP stalwart in Ilesa, who spoke to DAILY POST on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that Senator Fadahunsi’s exit had been in the making for a while. According to the source, the Senator had long lost interest in the party despite sustained efforts to convince him to stay.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Fadahunsi has not publicly declared his next political move or affiliation.
