The Senate has confirmed the appointment of five Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following the presentation of a report by the Committee on INEC during plenary on Wednesday.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Simon Lalong (APC–Plateau), said the nominees were thoroughly screened, and their credentials, work experience, and professional backgrounds were carefully reviewed.
He explained that each nominee responded satisfactorily to questions posed during the screening and demonstrated competence, integrity, and capacity to serve in the electoral body.
Lalong noted that the committee was confident in their qualifications and, therefore, recommended them for confirmation.
The Senate, after consideration, approved the appointments.
