During several hours of confrontations with Nigerian Army personnel deployed to defend lives and property in Sokoto State, scores of Boko Haram fighters were said to have died.
The Army and Forward Operating Base Raka Operation Hadarin Daji troops were alleged to have clashed in Tokukatara woodland, where the military men recovered weapons and ammunition, as well as motorcycles used by the terrorists to negotiate the terrain.
The accomplishments were reportedly recorded on Sunday during a vigorous clearance operation in the Tokukatara forest.
According to Zagazola Makama, a source, the military engaged the bandits in a hard gun battle and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, killing several of them and wounding many others.
According to him, the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists toward the KUKATARA HIlls, killing several of the injured terrorists who were unable to run.
Among the items discovered were a PKT machine gun, two AK 47 rifles, four magazines, a locally built pistol, 22 PKT rounds of 7.6254MM empty PKT links, five motorcycles, and a woodland camouflage jungle headgear.
