Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered an end to the work-from-home initiative for civil servants, mandating a full return to regular office schedules from Monday to Friday, effective March 31, 2025.
The policy reversal, announced in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service (HoS) on Tuesday, February 11, comes nearly a year after the flexible work arrangement was introduced to cushion the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Under the initial arrangement, junior staff worked two days a week in the office and remotely for the remaining days, while senior staff continued daily office attendance. However, with the recent implementation of a new minimum wage and other welfare measures, the state government has deemed it necessary to fully reinstate the traditional work structure.
The circular, signed by Head of Service, Bode Agoro, stated;
“Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the State Public Service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of Public Servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the cancellation of the work-from-home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service.”
With this directive, all civil servants in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are expected to fully resume office work, with a renewed commitment to efficient service delivery across the state.
