‘True Lagos spirit is welcoming,’ Sanwo-Olu says after election victory

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s sweeping victory in Saturday’s local government elections as a “resounding triumph” and a testament to Lagosians’ trust in the party’s leadership and developmental vision.

In a statement released yesterday, Governor Sanwo-Olu said he received the news of the APC’s electoral success with “joy and gratitude,” congratulating party leaders, stakeholders, and loyal supporters across the state.

“This victory belongs to the people of Lagos. It reflects your belief in our shared goals and your support for continuity, progress, and people-centered governance,” the governor said.

He extended his warm congratulations to the newly elected chairmen and councillors, urging them to see their victory not as an end, but a call to selfless, responsive, and accountable service to all residents, irrespective of political affiliations.

“Leadership is a sacred trust,” he said. “You have been chosen not just to lead your supporters, but to serve your entire community with equity, transparency, and compassion.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu also praised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election, and commended security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the process.

He called on the new local government administrators to be magnanimous in victory, urging them to embrace humility, inclusiveness, and unity.

“As the new local government administrations prepare to assume office, I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to working closely with them to drive meaningful development to all corners of our state,” the governor added. “Together, we will ensure that no community is left behind on our journey toward a Greater Lagos.”
