Meanwhile, the Julius Abure-led NWC of the Labour Party has written a solidarity letter to the British Labour Party leader, Keir Starmer, predicting a comfortable win for the party in the weekend election.

In the letter, Abure stated that based on an unbiased assessment of unfolding events in the electoral process, the British Labour Party will have a landslide victory and form the next government.

The statement reads in part:

“Fraternal and victorious greetings from the National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Labour Party to you and the entire British Labour Party Family.

“We profoundly express our solidarity to you and your entire team as you proceed to the general election in the United Kingdom.

“There is great assurance, based on our unbiased assessment of unfolding events in the electoral process, that the British Labour Party will have a landslide victory to form the next government.

“The British Labour Party has consistently, in the last fourteen years, provided a progressive opposition which put the Conservative Party on its toes. And as the Leader of the Opposition since 2020, you have demonstrated a high level of statesmanship and transformative leadership in Parliament, which has currently given you a comparative advantage over Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is also the Candidate of the Conservative Party.

“This undoubtedly has put the British Labour Party in a comfortable lead in public opinion and the ongoing electoral process. The July 4, 2024, election is a decisive moment in the history of democracy in the United Kingdom. It is a decision between an unstable neoliberal economic policy and a progressive regulated market economy, which is people-centred and transformative.

“The Nigerian Labour Party shall continue to strengthen the bond of solidarity between it and the British Labour Party to guarantee transformative governance and prosperity for the citizens of both countries through the shared principles and ideology of social democracy.

“We wish you, once again, victory at the polls and a successful Labour Party government in advance.”
