In a gesture to spread festive cheer, the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a Christmas bonus of ₦100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday through a statement signed by the State’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke. According to Dr. Nwaeke, the governor granted the approval on Monday to ensure that workers and senior citizens enjoy a fulfilled Christmas celebration.
This marks the second time under Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants in the state will be receiving a Christmas bonus of this magnitude, which surpasses the national minimum wage. Notably, this year’s bonus extends to pensioners for the first time, showcasing the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and welfare.
In a separate Christmas message, Governor Fubara urged residents of Rivers State to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence in addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, reassured the people of Rivers State of a brighter year ahead, filled with new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
