The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd.), has appointed Dr. Iyingi Brown as the Acting Head of Service (HoS), following the resignation of Dr. George Nwaeke.
Dr. Brown, who previously served as the Permanent Secretary in the Welfare Department of the Office of the Head of Service, will oversee the role in an interim capacity until a substantive HoS is named.
Vice Admiral Ibas described Dr. Nwaeke’s resignation as saddening, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the administration. He expressed gratitude for Nwaeke’s service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Reaffirming his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability in the state, Ibas also announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).
According to a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Prof. Worika’s selection followed a rigorous assessment process, with emphasis on his distinguished career in academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles.
Ibas noted that Prof. Worika’s wealth of experience makes him well-suited to support the administration in fulfilling President Bola Tinubu’s mandate for the state.
The appointment of the new SSG takes immediate effect.
