PSC Vows Transparent, Corruption-Free 2025 Police Recruitment

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has assured Nigerians of a fair, transparent, and credible recruitment process for the 2025 intake of Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and Constables.

In a statement by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the commission said it met with representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory under the theme “Collaborative Approach for a Transparent and Equitable Police Recruitment Process.”

Addressing the meeting, PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, said the commission would work closely with state governments to protect their recruitment quotas and prevent any hijacking of the exercise.

“We have decided to eradicate connivance and resist trading or purchase of slots. Special consideration will not be allowed to supplant merit and equity,” Argungu said. “We want to stop corruption in the system and promote healthy competition and equitable spread.”

He stressed the importance of constructive partnership with state governments to ensure that only qualified candidates are recruited.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, the commissioner representing the judiciary in the PSC, reminded participants that the commission was established to ensure equity and fairness in police recruitment and operations.

“We will rely on you to confirm that those to be recruited are genuinely from your states,” Galumje said.

Similarly, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd.), the commissioner representing the police in the PSC, pledged that the current management is committed to reinventing the recruitment process to attract the best Nigerian youths into the Nigeria Police Force.
