Argungu calls for professionalism, zero tolerance for corruption
The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector- General of Police (AIG) Ari Mohammed Ali as Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) to replace DIG Ade Ayuba who has retired from service.
Ali was the AIG in charge of Zone One, Kano, and hails from Nasarawa State in the Northcentral.
He is assuming duty to represent the region where the retired DIG Ayuba also hails from.
PSC Chairman Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), announced the appointment during the commission’s emergency management meeting, which he presided over.
The PSC chairman called for professionalism and zero tolerance for corruption from the new DIG.
Argungu said the commission would encourage the new DIG to embrace the commission’s vision for a police force that is professional and accountable to Nigerians.
The PSC chairman said the commission was building a new police that would be the pride of the nation, have the vigour and determination to serve and one that would always shun corruption.
A statement yesterday in Abuja by PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said Argungu promised that the commission would continue to partner the police to succeed in protecting lives and property as well as in fighting crime and criminality.
He congratulated DIG Ali, advising him to give his best in the service of his fatherland.
