PRP Criticizes Bauchi Governor’s Son for Seeking Presidential Son’s Help on Youth Empowerment

The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly criticized Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of Governor Bala Mohammed, for appealing to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to assist Bauchi youths with employment and business opportunities.

Shamsuddeen, ahead of Seyi Tinubu’s visit to the state, urged him not to reduce Bauchi youths to beggars by offering handouts but to provide sustainable empowerment initiatives such as employment, business capital, and ICT training, including cryptocurrency trading.

His remarks, made in a Facebook post on Monday, coincided with Seyi Tinubu’s northern tour, during which he has been distributing aid to communities, particularly as Muslims observe Ramadan.

“Please, when coming to Bauchi for the #RHYE, empower our youths with employment, Keke NAPEP, money to start a business, ICT infrastructure, and training for crypto trading,” Shamsuddeen wrote. “We, the youths of Bauchi, don’t need rice and food in nylon bags during Ramadan. Teach our youths how to fish rather than feed them for one day. They are not beggars.”

However, in a statement on Tuesday, PRP, through its State Secretary, Wada Abdullahi, described Shamsuddeen’s appeal as an admission of Governor Bala Mohammed’s failure to address unemployment and poverty in the state.

The party questioned why the governor’s son was looking to the president’s son for solutions instead of holding his father accountable for the well-being of Bauchi’s youth. PRP also accused the Bala Mohammed administration of worsening economic conditions by demolishing business structures without offering alternatives.

“The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Bauchi State Chapter, finds it deeply troubling that the son of a sitting governor is appealing to the son of the president for solutions that fall squarely within his father’s responsibilities,” the statement read.

PRP further warned that Bauchi’s youth would not be swayed by temporary handouts and would demand real leadership at the ballot box in 2027.
