Mr. Kamorudeen Yusuf, Personal Assistant on Special Duties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has awarded a full scholarship to Sodiq Shoyode, the 16-year-old Ogun State native who scored an impressive 360 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Sodiq, from Ado-Odo Local Government Area, gained national attention for his academic excellence, particularly given his modest background. His result went viral shortly after its release, earning him accolades from across the country.

In a statement on Monday, Yusuf said he was moved by the teenager’s exceptional performance and unwavering determination. He contacted the Shoyode family and pledged to sponsor Sodiq’s entire university education. The scholarship package also includes a brand-new laptop and enrollment in a top digital academy in Lagos to help the student acquire skills in back-end software development before starting university.

“I have always had the goal of scoring 360 and above in JAMB since I was in SS1, and I’m glad I was able to achieve it,” Sodiq said with pride. He attributed his success to consistent study habits and self-discipline, including regular practice tests and weekly progress tracking.

While Sodiq aspires to study Mechanical Engineering at the university, he is equally passionate about building a career in tech, with a special interest in software development.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, the young scholar thanked his parents for their support and extended special appreciation to Mr. Yusuf. “I’m eternally grateful, sir,” he said.

The inspiring gesture from the presidential aide has been widely applauded, with many calling it a shining example of how outstanding academic talent can be encouraged and supported.
