President Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Diplomatic Visits to France and South Africa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following a week-long series of diplomatic engagements in France and South Africa. He arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 9:10 PM, where he was received by senior government officials.

Among those welcoming the President were the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.

President Tinubu departed Nigeria for Paris on Wednesday, November 27, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron for a three-day state visit. Upon arrival at the Élysée Palace on Thursday, he and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu were warmly received by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.

During a joint press conference with President Macron, Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s strides in combating insecurity and advancing national stability. He also participated in the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding between Nigeria and France. The engagements included strategic discussions and participation in the Nigeria-France Business Council.

On Sunday night, President Tinubu traveled to Cape Town, South Africa, to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

At the BNC held on Tuesday, Tinubu underscored the importance of joint leadership by Nigeria and South Africa for the collective progress of the African continent. He also attended the Nigeria-South Africa Business Forum, emphasizing the need for stronger bilateral ties to foster economic growth and development.

The President’s diplomatic missions underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and fostering regional collaboration.
