President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his trip to Accra, Ghana, where he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.
The event, which took place on Tuesday, was held at the invitation of President Mahama, who had earlier visited Tinubu in December to extend a personal invitation. Tinubu’s participation as a special guest of honor underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Ghana.
Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for the Presidency, had earlier confirmed Tinubu’s attendance, emphasizing the significance of the occasion in fostering regional cooperation and mutual respect among West African nations.
President Tinubu’s return to Abuja was announced through a video shared on Wednesday, January 8, by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun. In the post, Olusegun stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja from Accra after President Mahama’s swearing-in and inauguration ceremony.”
The President’s presence at the ceremony reflects his commitment to deepening Nigeria’s diplomatic relationships within the region and supporting democratic transitions across Africa.
