The Presidency has downplayed former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that he lacks the capacity to destabilize the government.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made this assertion in an interview with TVC News on Thursday, stating that the President is not losing sleep over El-Rufai’s remarks or the activities of opposition politicians.
Bwala dismissed speculations that the Presidency was concerned about El-Rufai’s recent outbursts or the regrouping of opposition figures, describing them as disorganized.
“Who is jittery? The political opponents have no direction. There is no organised political party in Nigeria other than the APC. Almost all opposition parties are trying to find their way,” Bwala said.
He further noted that President Tinubu remains committed to national reconciliation and has never engaged in combative responses to critics since assuming office.
Addressing El-Rufai’s political influence, Bwala remarked that the former governor only gains prominence when aligned with a “solid revolutionary” leader.
“El-Rufai is still in APC. You treat him like a brother. I know his grandstanding. I know he is having some trouble finding a path,” he added.
El-Rufai has recently criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the party has deviated from its founding principles and lacks internal democracy. He also accused the party’s leadership of failing to convene key meetings in the past two years.
