The Plateau State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP. Emmanuel Adesina, has continued to make giant strides in its efforts at curbing the activities of ‘One-Chance’ syndicates across the State.

“In a latest development, our Surveillance Team attached to Rantya division have arrested 3 suspects in connection to a case of phone snatching using tricycle, popularly called ‘KekeNapep’ in their One Chance operation.”

In a statement, the spokesman of the Command stated: “On the 29th day of August 2024 at about 2pm, the following suspects, one Umar Abu, Peter Ezekiel and Kelvin Monday, all male, were arrested at Rantya roundabout while attempting to make away with the mobile phone of one of their victims.

According to him, “Upon interviewing the suspects, they all confessed to being members of a ‘One Chance’ syndicate which specialises in snatching people’s belongings around the Rantya axis.

They also revealed that this incidence is one of the many in which they have hypnotised innocent citizens and robbed them of their belongings, especially mobile phones.

The suspects further revealed that they lure their victims into boarding their tricycle under the pretence of being commercial riders, after which they eventually pick the targeted property without being spotted, until yesterday when the dice did not roll in their favour.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one Android phone and the tricycle with PT number: 17437.
