Peter Obi Stands a Chance of Clinching PDP Presidential Ticket if He Returns — Abba Moro

ABUJA — The Senate Minority Leader and lawmaker representing Benue South, Senator Abba Moro, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, could secure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket in 2027 if he decides to return to the party.

Moro made the remark on Tuesday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, while addressing speculations about Obi’s possible return to the PDP.

According to him, politics is unpredictable and fluid, making Obi’s chances realistic if the political climate favors him.

“In politics, nothing is certain. I’ve always said that in politics, two plus two is not four. These are matters of interest, and when it comes to existential interest from a community of persons within a geopolitical zone, it is possible,” Moro said.

He revealed that although the PDP as a party has not officially approached Obi, discussions are already ongoing among some individuals.

“As a party, we are yet to speak to Peter Obi; some people are already talking to him, and he stands a chance of getting the party’s ticket if he returns,” Moro added.

The Senate Minority Leader emphasized that the conversation is built on the belief that Obi, if widely accepted and supported, could boost the PDP’s chances of making a strong impact in the 2027 general elections.
