The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has reaffirmed the unwavering support of millions of Nigerians for former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
Tanko made the statement in response to a comment on social media platform X by user @nobsdaslushkid, who claimed that Obi owes much of his political relevance to the loyalty and passion of his supporters, popularly known as the Obidient Movement.
“I know this might sound silly, but without the Obidients, they would have buried Peter Obi a long time ago,” the user wrote. “He’s lucky to have an army of his own. Regardless of the outcome, one thing is clear—he didn’t walk the talk alone.”
Reacting to the post, Tanko emphasized that Obi has never stood alone in his political journey.
“His Excellency Peter Obi is not alone, has never been, and will never be,” he said in a statement shared via his official X handle. “He has an army of well-meaning Nigerians solidly behind him, which I’m fortunate to lead as its interim Coordinator worldwide.”
Reaffirming his commitment to the movement, Tanko added, “I am Obidient and proud. Are you Obidient and proud?”
The Obidient Movement, which gained momentum during the 2023 general elections, is a youth-driven, grassroots initiative advocating for good governance, accountability, and a new political order in Nigeria. Mr. Obi, widely regarded as the face of this movement, has consistently praised the group’s impact on Nigeria’s political landscape.
