Lagos, Nigeria – Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has reported to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a road user.
The incident, which sparked widespread reactions on social media, featured a clip of the popular cleric holding a metallic object while engaging in a conversation with a passerby who was recording the moment.
Amid public speculation that the object resembled a firearm, Pastor Adefarasin took to his official social media platforms to clarify the incident. He described the public reaction as a misunderstanding, emphasizing that the object in question was not a weapon and insisting that he neither threatened nor aimed it at anyone.
Confirming the pastor’s appearance at the Command headquarters, Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin stated via WhatsApp:
“No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.”
Hundeyin further noted that investigations into the matter have officially commenced. He added that detectives are also looking into the legality of the vehicle used in the video, which appeared to lack registration plates.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” he assured.
The incident has ignited fresh discussions around public conduct, firearm possession, and the responsibilities of public figures in Nigeria.
