“Our Hearts Ache on Children’s Day” — Parents of Kidnapped Kano Children

0

As the world marked International Children’s Day with joy and celebration, a group of grieving parents in Kano State is calling for urgent intervention over the prolonged abduction of their children.

Speaking to DAILY POST, the Chairman of the Coalition Of Parents for the Abducted Children in Kano State (COPACK), Comrade Isma’ila Ibrahim Muhammad, described the day as bittersweet — a reminder of the painful absence of their missing children.

“We are happy for the celebration of children worldwide,” he said. “But it’s a day of sorrow for us. Our children remain with their captors. Their names and identities have been changed. We are praying for a miracle — for their return.”

Muhammad urged the Kano State Government to revisit the unresolved issue of the kidnapped children, many of whom were reportedly trafficked from the North to the South-East and South-South regions.

“These children are not just from Kano. Some are from other northern states as well,” he noted. “We plead with the authorities to take action and help reunite these children with their families.”

Expressing frustration and anguish, the coalition also warned other parents across the country to remain vigilant, stressing that child abduction is a growing threat that must not be ignored.

The saga of kidnapped Northern children — reportedly relocated and given new identities in other parts of the country — has continued to spark outrage, especially following DAILY POST’s investigative reports detailing the children’s plight.

As Children’s Day passes, the parents’ message remains clear: celebration must go hand in hand with justice.
