Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents, pledging to prioritize initiatives aimed at alleviating hardship in the coming year. This assurance was contained in a New Year’s Day statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

Governor Adeleke announced plans to focus on “soft infrastructure” in the 2025 fiscal year, building on two years of significant infrastructural development across the state. He emphasized that his government’s efforts would enhance not only the physical landscape of the state but also the quality of life for its citizens.

“This new year will witness extensive implementation of soft infrastructure. The goal is to ensure that good roads are complemented by strong bodies, strong citizens, and residents,” the Governor stated. “My only motivation will continue to be the well-being of the good people of Osun State. I remain, as always, a responsive, listening, and compassionate governor.”

Governor Adeleke also highlighted the administration’s numerous achievements over the past year across various sectors. He revealed plans for both new and ongoing social programs aimed at cushioning the effects of economic challenges on the people.

Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance, citing compliance with the Freedom of Information Act. “In the last year, we processed several requests for information and ensured access to data as a transparent and accountable government,” he said.

He noted that all state projects under his tenure had been funded through internally generated revenue and allocations from the federation account. Governor Adeleke also disclosed that he had not accessed security votes or borrowed funds to finance the government’s operations.

Extending an Olive Branch
Governor Adeleke extended a hand of fellowship to opposition parties, urging collaboration for the benefit of the state. “As democracy is a government for the people, of the people, and by the people, I call on those seeking specific data on government programs to take advantage of the Freedom of Information Act. I also urge the opposition to join us in turning the fortune of our state for the better. We are all stakeholders,” he said.

The Governor reaffirmed Osun State’s active participation in national economic initiatives through platforms like the National Economic Council and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum. He noted that his administration had sustained beneficial national programs inherited from the previous government.

Governor Adeleke concluded by pledging to remain steadfast in his dedication to the people of Osun State, ensuring that governance prioritizes their needs and aspirations in the new year.
