The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has raised alarm over what it describes as a coordinated attempt to destabilize the state and endanger the life of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi accused the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, of deploying special forces to the state as part of a larger scheme to eliminate the governor.
Bisi alleged that the police deployment was orchestrated to pave the way for unlawful takeovers of local government councils, ahead of the scheduled council elections on Saturday.
“The whole world must warn and prevail on Mr. Kayode Egbetokun to desist from enabling orchestrated attempts on the life of our Governor,” Bisi stated. “These plans have been in motion since the APC was voted out of office in 2022.”
He further described the deployment of special forces as a “blatant coup,” accusing security operatives of working with political opponents to undermine the authority of the state government.
The PDP has called on the international community to intervene and ensure the safety of Governor Adeleke and the democratic stability of Osun State.
