The Osun State Government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 additional personnel into the Amotekun Corps to bolster security efforts across the state.
The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Dr. Isaac Omoyele, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Dr. Omoyele stated that the new recruits would complement the existing 320 personnel, significantly enhancing the corps’ capacity to address security challenges. He also highlighted the corps’ ongoing collaboration with neighboring states to strengthen border security and curb cross-border criminal activities.
Speaking on the state government’s commitment, Omoyele revealed that adequate provisions for the Amotekun Corps had been made in the 2025 appropriation law, ensuring the outfit is well-equipped to execute its mandate effectively.
“We appreciate the support of the state government in tackling critical challenges such as operational vehicles, weapons, manpower, and other necessary resources,” Omoyele said.
He assured residents of the corps’ dedication to maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that their operations would be carried out with integrity and impartiality.
The recruitment of the additional personnel underscores the Osun government’s commitment to enhancing the safety and security of its citizens.
