The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday, September 17 2020, presided over the 4th virtual National Economic Council, NEC, meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governors of the 36 states were in attendance virtually as they joined the meeting from their respective states.
Constitutionally, the Vice President is the Chairman of NEC and the council comprises of the 36 state Governors; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN; Minister of Finance; Head of Civil Service of the Federation; Secretary to the Government of the Federation and other government officials who have economy related duties.
The National Economic Council, NEC, meets monthly to deliberate on the coordination of economic planning and programmes of various levels of government.
It would be recalled that at the last virtual meeting on August 20 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the sum of N13 billion naira for the implementation of community policing in the country.
