…Says Over 20 Aspirants Eye Nasarawa Governorship Seat Ahead of 2027
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has declared that the choice of his successor in the 2027 governorship election rests solely with God Almighty, emphasizing that the decision is beyond human control, including his own.
The governor made this known on Friday at a grand reception held in honour of Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, PhD, the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The event was organised by the Nasarawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) under the leadership of Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sule urged residents of the state to remain patient and prayerful, expressing confidence that God will, at the appointed time, choose the most suitable person from among the growing list of over 20 individuals vying for the seat.
“This position of governor — only one person will get it. All others must rally round the one chosen by God. From my count, I have seen about 20 people already in the race for the 2027 governorship in Nasarawa State. So there is going to be a lot of alliances, a lot of forgiveness, and a lot of working together if we really want to get to where we want,” Sule said.
Reiterating that divine will supersedes personal influence, he added, “Let me make it categorically clear: God Almighty alone gives this position. The appointment of the SSG, for example, is not by Engr. Sule, but by God. And it is the same God that will select our next governor.”
Governor Sule also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to Nasarawa State.
The 2027 political season in Nasarawa is already drawing attention, with alliances and strategies beginning to take shape among aspirants and stakeholders across the state.
