Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the employment of 1,000 secondary school teachers, with plans nearing completion for the recruitment of an additional 1,000 primary school teachers.

A statement released on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed that the approval followed the conclusion of the recruitment process conducted by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

The statement noted that successful candidates for secondary schools would commence documentation immediately, while the final list for primary school teachers was in its final stages.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa had approved the recruitment of 1,010 secondary school and 1,000 primary school teachers last year, leading to the rigorous selection process by TESCOM and the State Universal Basic Education Board,” the statement read.

Highlighting the governor’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, the statement emphasized that the recruitment drive was strategically designed to fill critical teaching gaps, particularly in rural schools.

In addition to the teacher recruitment initiative, Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved the payment of ₦633 million for the registration of students taking the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Further demonstrating his administration’s dedication to educational development, the governor also recently approved the upgrade of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to the University of Agriculture and Agribusiness, Owo.
