Former Senate Minority Leader and ex-chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Biodun Olujimi, has declared that it would be extremely difficult for any opposition party to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Olujimi described President Tinubu as a seasoned and deeply rooted politician whose experience and political network give him a formidable edge ahead of the next presidential contest.
“This is the first time we are having a dyed-in-the-wool politician in charge,” she said. “He knows his onions, he knows all of us, he’s been in the system for a very long time. It’ll be tough to beat him.”
Olujimi, who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), cited Tinubu’s longstanding political influence and cross-party alliances as key strengths that place him ahead of his rivals.
“This is a man who has worked with everyone, who has been useful to everyone, and who has had opportunities to assist different governments,” she noted. “Beating him? That would be an uphill task.”
In a separate interview with TVC, the former Ekiti South Senator offered deeper insight into her decision to leave the PDP, attributing her move to the internal challenges within the party and her growing admiration for Tinubu’s leadership style.
“Well, the PDP journey was a very long one. It was pleasurable at first, but it became very torturous and problematic,” Olujimi explained. “So it was time to move on. It was time to re-energise and reorder priorities.”
She further lauded the Tinubu administration for taking tough economic and political decisions and staying the course despite public backlash.
“I have always been a proponent of governments taking bold decisions and standing by them. This is the first time I’m seeing a government take tough decisions, stand by them, and push forward with commitment. That is why I have decided to pitch my tent with this administration,” she stated.
Olujimi’s defection marks a significant shift in Ekiti State’s political landscape, as the APC continues to consolidate its strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
