The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has hailed the return of Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as a divine development.

Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of the group, expressed optimism about the imminent return of Senator Ekweremadu, noting the organization’s extensive advocacy for the release of the couple. He underscored that Senator Ekweremadu’s return to Nigeria is expected soon.

The return of Mrs. Ekweremadu to Nigeria on Wednesday was met with widespread celebration in Enugu, with news of her release from a UK prison sparking festivities across the city.

In a statement released to journalists on Thursday, Okwu emphasized the Ekweremadus’ positive impact on their community and the significant role their actions played in the advocacy for their release. He recalled the group’s numerous efforts, including appeals to former President Muhammadu Buhari, although their calls for intervention had initially been rejected.

“We are elated by the news of Mrs. Ekweremadu’s return,” Okwu stated. “Her release brings us closer to the joyful moment of Senator Ekweremadu’s return, which we believe will happen soon by God’s grace.”

Okwu further highlighted Senator Ekweremadu’s contributions to society, especially in Enugu State, describing him as “the number one builder of men.” He expressed gratitude for the couple’s resilience and affirmed that their continued good deeds will stand in their favor.

“We are thankful that Senator Ekweremadu and his wife are in high spirits, and we eagerly await his return to complete our joy,” Okwu added.
