Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the immediate commencement of construction on the 17-kilometer Sango-Ijoko road, which will be divided into two sections for expedited completion. He also disclosed that the 3.25-kilometer Alagbole-Ajuwon-Akute road in Ifo Local Government Area is set to be commissioned by the end of February 2025.
Governor Abiodun made these remarks during an inspection tour of several road projects underway in the Ifo 2 State Constituency.
“About four months ago, we visited this constituency in response to concerns about the poor state of roads, particularly Alagbole-Ajuwon, Denro-Ishashi-Akute, Ajuwon-Akite, Ijoko-Sango, and Lambe. I promised then that I would return within months to commission these roads,” the Governor said.
He added, “Today, the Alagbole-Akute road is 100% completed and ready for commissioning, while construction on the 3.25-kilometer Ajuwon-Akute road is ongoing and will be completed by the end of February 2025.”
Regarding the Sango-Ijoko road, Governor Abiodun explained that the 17-kilometer stretch would be divided into two sections of 8 kilometers each to facilitate timely completion. He revealed that construction would begin immediately on the most critical portions, which will be identified in consultation with local residents.
“This constituency is crucial to us. As our border community with Lagos State, it experiences significant cross-border migration. It is our responsibility to ensure that this interaction is as seamless and pleasurable as possible,” he stated.
The Governor urged residents to use the roads responsibly and maintain them to ensure their longevity and effectiveness.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ifo Community Development Council (CDC), Alhaji Akangbe Olatunde, expressed gratitude for the ongoing work, commending Governor Abiodun for bringing relief to the people of Ifo Local Government.
“We have endured years of neglect, but this administration has given us hope and joy through these developmental projects,” Alhaji Olatunde said.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hadijat Adeleye, also lauded the efforts of the state government. “This area has suffered greatly in the past. Governor Abiodun has truly lifted our spirits by addressing our challenges and providing much-needed infrastructure. We are deeply thankful,” she said.
The Ogun State government reiterated its commitment to improving infrastructure across the state, particularly in border communities, to foster development and enhance the quality of life for residents.
