SAGAMU — The Ogun State government has sealed off Asoludero Court, the Conference Hotels, and its annex in the Sagamu Government Reserved Area — all owned by former governor and current senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel — over alleged violations of the state’s planning regulations.
The action, carried out on Monday by officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (Sagamu Zonal Office), came just three days after a notice to quit was issued to the properties’ management.
According to the Friday notice, the buildings contravened the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 and its subsidiary regulations, and the owners were directed to produce relevant planning permits within 24 hours or face demolition.
By mid-morning Monday, officials stormed the premises, pasting fresh “Sealing” and “Demolition” notices on the gates and walls of the multi-billion-naira facilities. Both notices bore the date August 11, 2025, and were served simultaneously.
The sealing notice (S/No 00047312) stated:
“Sequel to our previous Notice of Contravention, Notice to Stop Work, and Notice to Quit served on you/the development, to which you have not responded, your property is hereby sealed forthwith preparatory for its demolition… You are warned not to break the seal or tamper with it in any way whatsoever.”
The demolition notice (S/No 00048262) ordered the removal of the alleged contravention within three days or risk demolition, with the cost of such demolition to be recovered from the owner.
Otunba Daniel has, however, accused Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration of political witch-hunt, alleging that the law cited was enacted after the buildings were legally constructed. He described the move as “politically motivated” and a “blatant disregard for due process and the rule of law.”
