The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has called on the state government to urgently establish a State Boundary Commission to address recurring boundary disputes involving Ogun and neighbouring states.

Elemide made the appeal during plenary while reacting to a report by Hon. Lawal Adekunle, who represents the Ogun Waterside Constituency. Adekunle drew attention to an alleged encroachment by officials of the Lagos State Town Development Authority into parts of Ode-Omi. The Speaker emphasized the need for immediate government intervention to protect residents from unauthorized invasions and maintain territorial integrity.

In a related development, the House of Assembly has successfully resolved a land dispute concerning the Leso Community Market in Odeda Local Government Area. The dispute stemmed from a petition submitted by the Camp Area Community Development Committee, which accused Oluwajuwon Adex Adefaka and others of attempting to sabotage the approved market’s establishment.

Following the submission of a detailed report by the Chairman of the House Committee on Lands and Housing, Hon. Damilola Soneye, the House adopted the committee’s recommendations. The motion was seconded by Hon. Samsideen Lawal and unanimously supported by members.

According to the report, the committee affirmed that the Leso Community Market had been duly approved by the Odeda Local Government Council and should continue operations as planned. It further clarified that the disputed land falls under the jurisdiction of the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and advised all stakeholders to seek appropriate documentation and approval through the ministry to avoid future conflicts.

The Assembly’s actions underscore its commitment to fostering peace, development, and lawful land administration across the state.
