Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has promised to sustain the fight against all threats to the security of lives and property across the state.
Ododo made the promise when he addressed reporters at the end of a closed-door meeting with chairmen of the 21 local government aAreas in the state on measures for mitigating threats to insecurity.
In a statement at the weekend in Lokoja, the state capital, by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor noted that with the state’s security architecture proving to be successful, it was imperative to sustain the fight against violent crimes to ensure peace and stability.
He said: “Given the successes recorded by the immediate past administration of my predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in taming the menace of insecurity in the state, we must continue to accord top priority to the security of lives and property of the people.
“We cannot afford to drop from the height we have attained in securing the lives and property of our people as a result of desperate attempts by a few unpatriotic elements who may want to undermine our collective resolve to keep our state safe and secure.”
Ododo pledged to place premium on security of lives and properties, adding that his administration would do all in its capacity to tame insecurity across the state.
“I have restated my commitment to the local government chairmen that security remains my first priority. We must be prepared to do whatever it takes to secure every inch of Kogi State. This is not negotiable,” he said.
The governor urged the local government chairmen to strengthen their efforts to secure their domains and stay in touch with those he called primary sources of intelligence gathering for any security intervention by government.
