The Obidient Movement has reaffirmed its commitment to championing the emergence of competent, value-driven leaders ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a model.
This pledge was made following the Movement’s inaugural Advisory and Directorate Committees meeting, held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the National Coordinator of the Movement, Tanko Yunusa, described the meeting as a significant step in the group’s mission to build a better Nigeria through strategic collaboration and grassroots mobilization.
“The movement has an unwavering commitment to develop and ensure that competent (value-based) leaders such as Peter Obi emerge in our political space as we march towards the 2027 general elections,” Yunusa said.
He emphasized the importance of unity, organization, and active participation in achieving the group’s vision. According to Yunusa, members left the meeting with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear understanding of the task ahead.
“We appreciate all those who have accepted appointments to serve in various directorates and advisory councils, taking on critical roles in shaping the movement’s future,” he added.
The Obidient Movement also commended its supporters across Nigeria and beyond for their dedication to mobilizing, advocating, and pushing for transformative leadership.
“With renewed energy, the Obidient Movement will continue strengthening its structures, expanding its reach, and ensuring that every supporter is empowered to play their part,” Yunusa concluded.
The group has pledged to remain steadfast in its mission to deliver leadership and governance that reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
