Obaseki Warns Civil Servants: “Opposition Win Will Bring Suffering, Defend Your Votes!”

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has urged civil servants to actively participate in Saturday’s governorship election, warning that failure to ensure the ruling party’s victory could have serious consequences for the state’s development.

Speaking during a thank-you meeting with public servants in Benin, Obaseki praised the progress made in modernizing Edo’s civil service through technology and warned that electing inexperienced leaders could set the state back. He emphasized that the state’s growth depends on maintaining capable leadership.

“We can’t afford any mistakes come Saturday. Allowing the opposition to win is a risk we can’t take,” Obaseki said. “It’s not about me but about democracy and development. Electing people without ideas or experience could be disastrous for Edo.”

He commended the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, as the right choice to continue his reforms, calling on voters to defend their votes and ensure Edo’s continued progress.

Ighodalo, in his remarks, praised Obaseki’s administration for its transformation of the civil service, pledging to build on the governor’s achievements. He urged the electorate to turn out en masse and safeguard their votes.

Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, thanked Obaseki for his contributions to the civil service, praying for his success and appreciating Ighodalo’s commitment to sustaining the state’s development.

The governor also inaugurated the newly installed traffic light at the Third East/Sakponba Road Junction.
