Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has condemned the conduct of the September 21 governorship election, citing widespread disregard for due process and the rule of law. His remarks followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the closely contested election.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes. Labour Party’s (LP) Olumide Akpata, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, finished in third place
