NSIB Launches Investigation into Runway Excursion of Allied Air Boeing 737 at Abuja Airport

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into a runway excursion involving a Boeing 737-400 cargo aircraft, operated by Allied Air. The incident occurred at 10:06 am on Wednesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as the aircraft, flight AJK206, veered off the right side of Runway 22 into the grass verge after landing from Lagos.

NSIB spokesperson, Mrs. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were reported among the crew or ground personnel, although the aircraft sustained significant damage. Emergency teams were quickly deployed to the site to secure the area.

The NSIB’s Go Team is on the ground to assess the situation, gather relevant data, and interview involved parties. The investigation aims to uncover the factors contributing to the incident, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
