Northern Nigerians Have No Grievance Against Tinubu – Ex-Minister Shagari Backs Tinubu

Former Minister of Water Resources, Muktar Shagari, has declared that Nigerians in the north hold no grudges against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite political maneuverings by some northern leaders aimed at unseating him in the 2027 general election.

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Shagari expressed strong support for the President’s re-election bid, stating that Tinubu deserves a second term to consolidate and complete the implementation of his policies.

“The President is doing everything he can to make this country better,” Shagari said. “The results are now being seen; the country is gradually moving in the right direction.”

He emphasized that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stands firmly behind President Tinubu and has endorsed him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 election to avoid internal distractions.

“For President Tinubu to implement the programmes he promised Nigerians, he needs a second term,” he stated. “We in the APC believe in him, and we believe he has the ability and capability to do that. What we can do is give him the moral and political support he needs.”

Addressing regional concerns, Shagari stressed that the north has no animosity towards the President. He praised Tinubu’s efforts in improving security, particularly in the northern region.

“In the north, we have nothing against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He’s doing very well, especially in the area of security. I can tell you that, physically, security in Sokoto is getting better and better,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming the APC’s unwavering confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and ability to deliver on his promises.
