The Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has dispelled speculations about a possible joint presidential ticket between Mr. Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, Dr. Tanko stated categorically that no such discussions have taken place.

“That topic hasn’t even come up. People are speculating, but there’s no such talk now,” he said.

However, Tanko confirmed that the movement is currently engaged in consultations with like-minded political parties and key stakeholders across the country. He emphasized that any future political alliance must be rooted in national interest rather than driven by elite arrangements.

According to him, the Obidient Movement is focused on building a broad-based coalition grounded in integrity, inclusiveness, and service to the Nigerian people.

Dr. Tanko also reaffirmed that Mr. Peter Obi remains committed to the principles of good governance and integrity. He revealed that if a coalition agreement requires Obi to serve only one term in office, the former Anambra State governor would honour that commitment.

“He is a man of his word,” Tanko concluded.
