No Sacrifice Too Great for Rivers Stability – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability in the state, declaring that no sacrifice or concession is too great in the pursuit of unity and progress.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwu, Governor Fubara addressed supporters during a meeting in Port Harcourt, where he spoke candidly about the recent peace deal brokered between him, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and members of the state House of Assembly.

Describing the peace accord as a necessary step taken in the best interest of the state, Fubara acknowledged Wike’s significant role in his emergence as governor. He emphasized that despite public disappointment over the reconciliation, the decision was guided by the need to restore calm and ensure effective governance.

“I understand the concerns and disappointment of many of our supporters, but tough times require tough decisions,” Fubara said. “Every move we have made, including the reconciliation, was carefully considered and made with our collective interest at heart.”

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his timely intervention in the political crisis, which had threatened to derail governance and stall key development projects across the state.

Fubara admitted that the political tension had negatively impacted the delivery of government services and slowed down critical projects. However, he expressed confidence that the resolution of the impasse would lead to an accelerated pace of implementation moving forward.

He also assured stakeholders that throughout the reconciliation process, consultations were held with trusted allies and key members of his political family to ensure a united front.

While recognizing that the new political landscape may be difficult for some loyal supporters to accept, the governor urged them to remain focused on the larger goal — the peace, stability, and development of Rivers State.
