NNPCL Launches Production Monitoring Command Centre to Boost Oil Output

0

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has unveiled the Production Monitoring Command Centre (PMCC), a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing efficiency and boosting oil production across the nation’s hydrocarbon sector.

The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, described the PMCC as a strategic innovation aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for increased productivity and efficiency in the oil and gas industry. The initiative is spearheaded by NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) and builds on the existing Command and Control Centre to improve operational monitoring and production processes.

The PMCC is a unified platform designed to monitor hydrocarbon molecules from production sites to export terminals, covering both Joint Ventures (JVs) and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs). It consolidates real-time data from various operators, providing stakeholders with a comprehensive view of production activities. This enables timely identification of anomalies, reduces unplanned disruptions, and ensures seamless operational continuity.

“With advanced analytics and integrated data, the PMCC offers actionable insights for proactive decision-making,” Soneye said. “This capability enhances planning, resource allocation, and risk management, enabling operators to meet production targets efficiently while maintaining high operational standards.”

A key feature of the PMCC is its predictive and preventive maintenance capability. The system monitors equipment performance in real time and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure asset reliability and longevity. This proactive approach minimizes downtime, optimizes resource utilization, and directly contributes to increased production and revenue.

The PMCC also fosters collaboration among stakeholders by providing a secure platform for data sharing and communication. This collaborative framework enhances problem-solving and continuous improvement across the sector.

According to Soneye, the PMCC underscores NNPCL’s commitment to innovation and excellence, reinforcing Nigeria’s position in the global energy market. “This initiative not only aligns with national goals but also ensures long-term growth and profitability for stakeholders,” he said.

As NNPCL continues its modernization drive, the PMCC is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s hydrocarbon operations. By enhancing monitoring capabilities and operational efficiency, the initiative positions the country for sustained growth in the global energy sector.

The launch of the PMCC marks a significant milestone in NNPCL’s efforts to drive industry transformation, bolster production, and deliver value to the nation and its stakeholders.
