Nnamdi Kanu Returns to Court as Trial Resumes Amid Judicial Controversy

0

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the resumption of his trial on terrorism charges filed by the Nigerian government.

Kanu’s trial had been stalled since September 24, 2024, when Justice Binta Nyako recused herself from the case after Kanu expressed a lack of confidence in her ability to deliver fair judgment. Following her withdrawal, the case file was forwarded to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, who later returned it to Nyako, instructing her to continue the proceedings.

The IPOB leader’s arrival at the court was confirmed by his brother, Kanunta Kanu, who shared a video on social media platform X. In his post, he wrote:

“10th of February 2025 #MaziNnamdiKanu live at dishonorable Justice Binta Nyako’s court in Abuja, Nigeria.”

Kanu’s trial remains a subject of intense legal and political debate, with supporters closely monitoring the proceedings.
