Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has described political rivalries in Nigeria as mere theatrics designed to entertain the public.
Fayemi made this revelation on Sunday during his 60th birthday thanksgiving service at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Isan-Ekiti. Addressing attendees who were surprised to see some of his past political opponents at the event, he emphasized that the seeming hostilities among politicians are not genuine.
“All these things you read on social media are just for your entertainment,” he stated. “Many will wonder why former Governor Segun Oni is here, but I spent the entire day with him during his birthday. If Governor Ayodele Fayose were around, he would have also attended without hesitation.”
The former governor highlighted the need for unity beyond political affiliations, describing Ekiti’s leadership as a collective effort.
“The vision we have always had is a state that will not be divided by politics. We may belong to different parties, but in reality, there’s one party we all share – the ‘Ekiti Progressive Party.’ Our governor is carrying on that legacy,” he added.
Reflecting on his journey, Fayemi attributed his success to divine grace, expressing gratitude as he marked his milestone birthday.
