President Bola Tinubu has reported significant progress in the fight against insecurity, announcing the elimination of over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders within his first year in office. He made this statement during his 64th Independence Day address on Tuesday.
Speaking to Nigerians, the president expressed confidence that his administration is making strides in the battle against terrorism and violent extremism. “We are winning the war on terror and banditry,” Tinubu said. “Our goal is to eradicate the threats posed by Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and all forms of violent extremism.”
According to Tinubu, security forces have intensified their operations, particularly in the Northeast and Northwest regions, restoring peace to numerous communities and allowing displaced residents to return home. He added, “Over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our gallant troops, and this will enable farmers to return to their fields, helping drive down food costs
