Nigeria continues to record a significant increase in the spread of the coronavirus disease as the latest data released on Tuesday, 25 August 2020, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, reported a total of 252 new cases and 3 deaths.
The health agency, in a late-night tweet, put the total number of confirmed cases in the country at 52,800, with a total fatality rate of 1,007 and more than 39,000 persons discharged.
However, Lagos, which has been the epicentre of the pandemic in the country failed to top the list of states with new cases this time, Plateau happened to top the list with 50 new cases, while Enugu ranked second with 35.
Other states with new cases include Rivers-27, Lagos-26, FCT and Kaduna with 18 cases each, Kaduna-18, Ekiti and Kano with 10 cases each, Taraba-9, Anambra, Edo and Oyo with 8 cases each, Delta-7, Ogun-6, Abia and Bayelsa with 5 cases each, Ebonyi and Osun recorded just 1 case each.
According to data from the NCDC, the country has tested 383,130 samples.
