The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has achieved significant milestones in 2024, with over 30,000 suspected criminals apprehended and 1,581 kidnapped victims rescued, according to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun.
During a strategic meeting at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun highlighted the achievements of the NPF, noting that 30,313 suspects were arrested for various serious crimes throughout the year. Additionally, the force recovered 1,984 firearms of varying calibers and 23,250 rounds of ammunition, showcasing its commitment to tackling insecurity.
In a statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, Egbetokun praised the dedication and hard work of the officers, particularly in crime reduction and community engagement. The IGP emphasized that the police force had made notable strides in fostering trust with the public, attributing these successes to the collective efforts of officers and citizens working together to combat crime.
Looking ahead to 2025, Egbetokun vowed to prioritize technological innovation and the adoption of modern tools and practices to enhance the force’s operational effectiveness. He urged senior officers to embrace progressive approaches in crime prevention and investigation, ensuring the NPF remains adaptable and responsive to the evolving security landscape.
As the festive season approaches, the IGP assured the public that the NPF, under his leadership, would continue to implement measures to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all Nigerians. He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with citizens, fostering safety, and promoting accountability within the police force.
